We believe volunteering is more than offering help. It is a space for learning, connecting, and co-creating resilient communities.

At Veles Farm, volunteers have been shaping our story of sustainable living for many years. Together, we build with natural materials, care for gardens and orchards, create using local resources, develop new ideas, and learn from one another. Every volunteer brings their own knowledge, perspective, and experience, while leaving with new friendships, practical skills, and a deeper understanding of sustainable living.

Through the Volunteering Through Sustainability (Prostovoljstvo skozi trajnost) project, we are strengthening these foundations by developing a structured mentoring and coordination system for volunteers. Our goal is to provide meaningful support to both local and international volunteers while creating an environment where everyone can grow, contribute, and discover their potential.

Throughout the project, we are gradually developing:

• a mentoring programme for volunteers,
• an onboarding programme for new volunteers,
• a system for monitoring and supporting volunteer work,
• partnerships with organisations promoting quality volunteering,
• new opportunities for young people and individuals with fewer opportunities to engage in sustainability-focused activities.

Our aim is not simply to organise volunteering, but to nurture a community where responsibility, self-reliance, mutual support, and trust grow naturally through shared work, collaboration, and a close connection with nature.

We believe lasting change begins with people. Every volunteer becomes part of our story, and every shared experience is another step towards a more sustainable future.

This project comes to life through people, shared experiences, and everyday action. We regularly share stories, photos, and updates from volunteer activities, natural building workshops, international exchanges, food-growing projects, and daily life at Veles Farm on our social media channels.
